Welcome to ICANN59! Please join us for opening remarks and as we present ICANN’s 2017 Multistakeholder Ethos Award. Launched in 2014 at ICANN50 in London, the Multistakeholder Ethos Award recognizes ICANN participants who have invested in consensus-based solutions, acknowledged the importance of ICANN’s multistakeholder model of Internet governance and contributed in a substantive way to the higher interests of ICANN’s organization and community. Recipients of the Ethos Award are selected yearly by a panel of community members representing the various Supporting Organizations and Advisory Committees. ? At-Large AFRALO Showcase

Traditionally, AFRALO is very active whenever an ICANN meeting is held on African soil. The "African Showcase" is a social event for the exhibition of the various AFRALO members and presentation of African culture and values. It will be marked by the presence of the ICANN Board Chair and the ICANN CEO as well as several other Board members and Senior Staff. A reception accompanied by a local dancing group will provide an entertaining aspect to this event. We look forward to welcoming everyone at the Showcase!
