The registrars - those companies that sell domain names - play a vital part in ICANN.

However, the agreement that accredits registrars and which the agreement which outlines their obligations to ICANN when they are accredited are up for review having not changed since 1999 and 2001 respectively.

This is made all the more important in light of the recent Registerfly situation where one registrar's actions have caused the loss of thousands of domains and left tens of thousands of angry customers.
