Engagement Session with the Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency of the DNS Review Team
Second Security, Stability, and Resiliency of the Domain Name System (SSR2) Public Engagement Session
Interested in the security, stability, and resiliency of the Domain Name System (DNS)? The SSR2 Review Team wants to hear from you!
This is your opportunity to provide input into the work of the SSR2 Review Team as its members assess the key areas of the review: • ICANN's implementation of community recommendations from the first SSR Review (SSR1). • The completeness and effectiveness of ICANN's internal SSR processes. • ICANN activities that impact the security and stability of the DNS. • ICANN's strategy to address potential future challenges to the secure and resilient operation of the unique identifiers systems it coordinates. • The impact of the IANA stewardship transition on the security of ICANN and the unique identifier systems it coordinates.
The review kicked off in March 2017. Come along and share you input!
Learn more about the progress and background of SSR2 by visiting the SSR2 wiki and SSR2 homepage on ICANN.org

ccNSO TLD OPS Workshop [C]
TLD-OPS Workshop on the Collaborative Development of a ccTLD DDoS Mitigation Framework
Goal
The goal of the workshop is to explore how TLD-OPS members can collaborate to develop a DDoS Mitigation framework
Motivation
This workshop is in response to the TLD-OPS DDoS Mitigation workshop held at ICANN58 in Copenhagen on March 12, 2017. Since DDoS attacks may have a severe impact on the target (and potentially collateral damage for others), TLD-OPS Standing Committee believes it is important to mobilize the collective experience of the TLD-OPS community to develop and document a framework to better prepare ccTLD in responding to a DDoS attacks.
The workshop facilitates this dialog through sharing of experiences, discussion, and generation of ideas. We will be looking the topic from multiple perspectives, such as technical, operational, compliance, and strategic. Breakout groups will use flip charts for brainstorming.
Ultimately we would like to morph the framework into a usable maturity model where a ccTLD can evaluate/assess its DDoS mitigation readiness stance against a simple model.
TLD-OPS is the incident response community for and by ccTLDs. Its purpose is to enable TLD-OPS members to collaboratively detect and mitigate relevant security and stability-related incidents on a global level, including DDoS attacks.
The aim of TLD-OPS is to further extend members’ existing incident response structures, processes, and tools and not to replace them.
Closed Session
Please accept our apologies for not being able to open up this session for everyone. This is because we will be sharing confidential information that will help ccTLDs to collaboratively strengthen the operational security and stability of their services.
Thank you for your understanding!
On behalf of the TLD-OPS Standing Committee, Jacques Latour Chair
About TLD-OPS
