What it is: This is a roundtable discussion of what ICANN does, why ICANN is important to various stakeholder communities, and what the ICANN community will be doing in Lisbon.

Why it's important: This meeting provides an essential briefing on ICANN basics and an introduction to the key ICANN stakeholder groups and their plans for Lisbon.

Who should attend: All who are interested in the highlights of the meeting, especially first time attendees. This meeting is open to all ICANN meeting participants.

A discussion about the status of IPv6 deployment in policy, ISP and DNS operator environments. Three short presentation will be followed by a discussion between the panelists and participants, both at the meeting venue and participating through the chat and comment functions on this web site.

"At large" is ICANN's terminology for the wider Net community of individual users.

There is a separate At Large Advisory Committee to feed recommendations into the ICANN processes which is undergoing radical reform at the moment, the most significant piece of which so far is due to be announced in Lisbon.

Three Regional At Large Organisations (RALOs) for Africa, Europe and Asia are due to be announced in Lisbon (following Latin America at the last meeting, and leaving only North America), which will themselves accredit "At Large Structures" - groups of Internet users.

What it is: Local hosts' welcome to Lisbon, and formal opening
of the Lisbon meeting.

Why it's important: This event provides a preview of the
week's activities.

Who should attend: All ICANN meeting participants are encouraged to attend this event to learn more about our hosts and about the ICANN community.
